Judith Fahey
Judith Fahey started in the health care field as a Registered Nurse in 1982. Ms. Fahey has a BSN from Wheeling Jesuit University. She moved to and worked in Albuquerque, New Mexico for a large, integrated health care delivery system, which eventually grew to encompass the entire state of New Mexico. The system had a network of hospitals, employed and contracted providers, a managed care division, a medical research department, and a health plan with over 100,000 members and numerous clinics. Ms. Fahey has worked in critical care units, step-down units, case management and in administration supervising numerous departments including risk management, quality management, credentialing, workers’ compensation and others. She also has participated in numerous committees including ethics, IRB, safety, quality, risk management, senior management and physician executive committees. Deciding to attend law school after the medical malpractice crisis hit New Mexico.
Ms. Fahey graduated from law school with a concentration in Health Law in 1990. She continued to work with administration in her organization and supervised various aspects of the legal issues which impact health care organizations. She assisted in the drafting of numerous policies and procedures including the Medical Staff By-laws and negotiated settlements for different types of lawsuits the system experienced (employment, physician retention, medical malpractice, business). Since moving to Ohio in 1999, Ms. Fahey has been teaching health, law, communications and other courses for Ohio University and other educational institutions.
