Computer Requirements
Getting Up and Running
Before you start the Ohio University’s Master of Health Administration online program, you will want to assure that you have configured your computer to work for an online program. Ohio University’s online degree programs, like the masters of health administration, use a learning management system called Blackboard.  Most desktop computer systems, laptops and netbooks purchased within the last 3 to 4 years will work with Blackboard. Ohio University also provides 24/7 Help desk support to students for troubleshooting all technical issues. For specific questions regarding the system you will need, please contact your Enrollment Advisor at 1-877-823-1113.
Our online MHA program from Ohio University may require you to download/upload large files and often includes streaming audio and video, both of which require faster connections. Blackboard requires that your web browser conform to certain standards. If you have an out-of-date or unsupported browser, you will need to download either a certified version of your current browser or a different certified browser before attempting to log into Blackboard.
Ohio University provides free virus protection software for student computers. Also available to students at a very reasonable price are Windows and Macintosh versions of Microsoft Office. Please visit http://www.ohio.edu/oit/techdepot/software/student_name.cfm for more information about this software. If you have questions please contact the Tech Depot at 740-597-DEPO (3376) or techdepot@ohio.edu.
Browser Configuration
Once you have established that your computer has the proper operating system and hardware to run Blackboard, you should verify that your browser is compatible. Please see the information below to check compatibility with your system. We do not recommend using any version of Internet Explorer with Blackboard 9.1, and we do not support it. Using at least Firefox 3.5.x and 3.6.x are good and supported alternatives. If you use an Apple Mac operating system, Safari 4.0 or 5.0 and Firefox 3.5 and 3.6 or higher are supported and work with Blackboard 9.1.
If you have further questions regarding your connection speed, software needed or other technical requirements to participate in the MHA program, please contact your Enrollment Advisor at 1-877-823-1113.
